Mercedes Zubizarreta is one of the 2 founders of Zubi , where she is in charge of creative direction and marketing, both of which she is passionate about. Since 2012, the famous bags created by the two sisters with impressions of travel photos have already been exported to 15 countries. Mercedes studied architecture and interior design, where paper and writing are fundamental, and although much of her work takes place on the internet, she keeps the physical and digital world in parallel. How do you combine stationery and technology in your life?

I am very digital for everyone except stationery. I have everything important on my mobile in the calendar that is shared with the zubi team, but for the rest everything is on paper. I have 2 notebooks: one is my bullet journal and the other is a monthly communication calendar.

Any hobbies with stationery that you can reveal to us?

Well I have many! The most important has to do with the lines and the squares, they cannot be dark, they have to have the right color tone and thickness. Also the thickness of the sheet, it has to be what I like, just enough transparent. And the pens, if possible, erasable or the pilot of a lifetime. Even so, my favorite is always to use a pencil or a 0.7, 2B mechanical pencil.

What do you ask of a notebook?

I like that they are classic, very sober, the ones from the 50s if possible, on your website you have the penco ones, in Paris I buy the ones from Rhodia and in the USA the yellow striped ones that I love. And since I've discovered the dotted ones, I've decided that those are my favorites.

What is the object that cannot be missing on the desk?

Writing implements, of all kinds, my favorites are the Japanese ones, in Delfonics in Paris they have many, but in Japan I went completely crazy, I bought so many that 3 years later I still have pens (and their refills).
